Evengers:
Youth of Union's Student Leadership team acts as an advisory committee to Eleanor Cannon, Director of Youth Ministries. This team is an official committee of the Church and serves in leadership roles within the Youth Ministries and throughout the Church.
Sunday School:
Youth of Union Sunday School focuses on Biblical Education with life application. We utilize Orange Strategies Curriculum and have a variety of Sunday School leaders that offer such amazing faith stories and role models for our students.
Every last Sunday of the month is Youth Pancake Breakfast in the Underground.
Youth of Union:
Youth fellowship meets on Sunday evenings from 5-7:15 p.m. beginning in the FMC Gym for group games and dinner, followed by worship, teaching and small group breakout sessions in the Underground. Sunday evenings are dynamic, fun and laid-back gatherings where we "do life" together as a Christian community. This time is so valuable in building relationships with each other and developing that "village" that helps to guide each of our students on their faith journey.
Youth of Union Small Group leaders are amazing adults who are committed to pouring into the lives of our students and being part of their daily and spiritual lives. We utilize Orange Strategies Curriculum as a guide for teaching and leading Small Groups, and Parent Cue App for keeping parents in touch with what our students are learning and working through.
Confirmation:
Students typically begin Confirmation classes in the 6th grade, but are welcome to join anytime thereafter as the Spirit guides them!
Confirmation classes run January thru May and run in conjunction with Sunday Night Youth Fellowship. Confirmands participate in Youth of Union large group games and dinner, then go to Confirmation Class to finish out the night with Rev. Sara Relaford, who teaches the Confirmation program.
Youth Choir:
Led by Don Kirkindoll, Director of Music Ministries, the Youth Choir meets prior to Sunday Evening Youth of Union. Choir rehearsal takes place in the Union Choir Room (LL110) from 4-5 p.m. weekly, and is open to 6th-12th grade students. Prior music or vocal experience is not required!
Leaps of Faith Dance Team:
Leaps of Faith is a liturgical dance team that performs in worship services and is open to all 6th - 12th grade students with or without prior dance experience. Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Led by Linda Caldwell and Gloria Stansell, Leaps of Faith is a beautiful way to contribute to worship services for those who feel led to worship through movement.
Wednesday Nights (Seasonal):
Youth of Union meets on Wednesday Nights during the seasons of Advent and Lent to allow for Spiritual Practice of these holy seasons. Spiritual practices include Bible Study and Mission or Outreach Projects. Please see the Church calendar for exact dates.
Youth Basketball:
Basketball season begins in November each year and runs through February of the following year. Youth of Union Basketball offers teams for Junior Girls (6th-9th grades), Senior Girls (9th-12th grades), Junior Boys (6th-9th grades) and Senior Boys (9th-12th grades).
