YOUTH PROGRAMS

YOU Crew:
Youth of Union's Student Leadership team acts as an advisory committee to Thomas Walsh, Director of Youth Ministries. This team is an official committee of the Church and serves in leadership roles within the Youth Ministries and throughout the Church.

Youth Discipleship (Sunday School):
Join us each Sunday Morning as we delve into studying the Bible from beginning to end. Classes will be divided by Middle School (6-8 grades) and High School (9-12 grades). We will meet at 10am in the Underground for breakfast and then breakout into each respective class room (Middle School in the Teal Room and High School in the Green Room). This is a GREAT time to dive into the entire Bible and it’s grand narrative of redemption from the beginning to now. Our students NEED Biblical knowledge to navigate this world - we highly encourage students to participate in this great time!

Youth of Union:

[ANIKO = Greek word for BELONG] ANIKO Sunday Evening Youth fellowship is a place for ALL students to belong! ANIKO Youth Fellowship meets on Sunday evenings. The first Sunday of each month we will come together to worship as one from 5-6:30. Worship nights will begin with dinner in the FMC and end in the Chapel. All other Sundays will have the following schedule: Gym/game time from 5-5:30; Dinner at 5:30; followed by large group teaching in the Chapel, and small group breakout sessions. Sunday evenings are dynamic, fun, and laid-back gatherings where we "do life" together as a Christian community, and where everyone has a place. This time is so valuable in building relationships with each other and developing that "village" that helps to guide each of our students on their faith journey.

Youth of Union Small Group leaders are amazing adults who are committed to pouring into the lives of our students and being part of their daily and spiritual lives. We utilize Orange Strategies Curriculum as a guide for teaching and leading Small Groups, and the Parent Cue App for keeping parents in touch with what our students are learning and working through.

Confirmation:
Students typically begin Confirmation classes in the 6th grade but are welcome to join anytime thereafter as the Spirit guides them!
Confirmation classes run September thru April, with Rev. Faye Jones, and run in conjunction with Sunday Morning Youth Discipleship. Confirmands are encouraged to participate in all other Youth of Union activities.

Leaps of Faith Dance Team:
Leaps of Faith is a liturgical dance team that performs in worship services and is open to all 6th - 12th grade students with or without prior dance experience. Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Led by Linda Caldwell and Gloria Stansell, Leaps of Faith is a beautiful way to contribute to worship services for those who feel led to worship through movement.

Youth Basketball:

Basketball season begins in November each year and runs through February of the following year. Youth of Union Basketball offers teams for both boys and girls, grades 4th-12th. The fee to play is $25, but financial assistance is available to any who need it. No prior basketball experience is required to play. Basketball at Union is an outreach and a ministry that we value highly as a means to help young athletes grow in both their spiritual disciplines as well as their basketball skills.

This form needs to be updated each school year for every student!

Our Youth Ministry Director

Youth of Union is collecting items for the Christmas Shop at Sharing God's Love again! We will collect from Sunday, October 12th though Sunday, November 9th.

Collection bins will be located in the Narthex, and the list of items needed is on the image above!  Email Thomas, here, with any questions.

Our Youth Music is off to a fantastic start! We are currently starting to work on learning music to sing for Christmas. Both youth and children will sing on December 14 for the Lessons and Carols service at 9am, and Christmas Eve at the Contemporary service at 4pm.

If you are interested in your youth singing, rehearsals are Sunday 4-5pm for Youth (6th-12th grade) in EB 106 (Underground). We are very excited our kids will be participating this year and would love to have as many families participating as possible! Any questions contact Jaime Dow here.
